Championing resident voices across social housing

We're delighted to welcome Emma Nicholas to the House Krowd team as our Resident Champion Consultant.

Emma brings more than 30 years of lived experience as a social housing resident, alongside over a decade of championing resident voices across Wales. Her unique combination of personal experience and sector leadership gives her a deep understanding of the challenges residents face and the importance of meaningful engagement.

Throughout her career, Emma has worked to ensure that residents are not only listened to but actively involved in shaping the housing services they rely on every day.

A respected voice in resident engagement

Emma has become a well-respected advocate for resident engagement within the social housing sector.

As former Chair of the Trivallis Tenant Action Panel (TAP), she worked closely with housing professionals and fellow residents to strengthen tenant participation, improve communication and encourage more collaborative decision-making between landlords and residents.

She also played a leading role in establishing the National Independent Tenant Voice Cymru (NITVC), helping to bring together tenants, housing providers and sector partners to influence the future of social housing across Wales.

These experiences have given Emma valuable insight into how organisations can build trust, strengthen communities and improve services by placing residents at the centre of decision-making.

Bringing resident experience to House Krowd

At House Krowd, Emma will play a key role in developing and evolving our Resident Champion model.

Working directly with residents, she will help us better understand lived experiences, identify opportunities to improve engagement and ensure resident feedback helps shape the services and technology we develop.

Her work will include supporting wellbeing conversations, identifying emerging issues within communities, developing best practice for resident engagement and helping landlords and housing providers create more resident-centred services.

By combining real-world experience with structured resident insight, Emma will ensure House Krowd continues to develop solutions that create lasting value for both residents and housing organisations.

Why Emma's experience matters

Strong resident engagement is about more than consultation. It is about building trust, listening consistently and giving people genuine opportunities to influence decisions that affect their homes and communities.

Emma understands this better than most.

Her lived experience, combined with years of leadership across the housing sector, reflects everything House Krowd stands for: putting residents first, improving communication and helping organisations make better decisions through meaningful engagement.

Looking ahead

As House Krowd continues to support landlords and social housing providers across the UK, Emma's expertise will play an important role in shaping how we engage with residents and develop services that deliver real social impact.

We're delighted to welcome Emma to the team and look forward to the knowledge, experience and passion she brings.
